    What a creative idea, Michelle!

I’d find a couple of preggie celebs to guest post on the blog.

Advertise the site on Wahm sites and Bella forums.

Create a preggie fashion show on YouTube

  2. Kieran says:

    This looks like fun Michelle..

A good way for promotion would be to answer questions over at good ol Yahoo Answers, linking back to the site. Benefit being 2-fold: 1) back-links and 2) link back to the site that visitors could find you with. Being a bloke, I may have to speak to my sister-in-law for those answers, lol

  3. Kieran says:

Another way would be to video marketing by creating YouTube channel centred around the pregnancy niche. Create videos using Animoto and stock pix displaying pregnant women wearing fashionable clothing. Release 2-3 videos per week to build up the channel and subsequent back-links ;)

  4. Kieran says:

Promote your videos by using TubeMogul.com distribution system to reach more video file sharing sites in a shorter period of time.

  5. Kieran says:

Join up niche specific facebook fan and group pages where I could join the community and contribute in a valuable way. Hmmm, just thinking would be best to coerce my Mum into this process as she was a carer of mothers with babies for 30+ years..

  6. Kieran says:

Initiate a blog commenting campaign by searching for relevant pregnancy related blogs and adding insightful comments. The obvious result would be back-links back to http://www.PregnancyFashion.org Depending on funds and resources, this could be better outsourced to make better use of time..

  7. Kieran says:

Ask questions within my Twitter account to help with pregnancy related topics. Could be legit and be the bloke that I am asking for advice for womens fashion suite to pregnant women, which in turn would help with building content for the blog.

  8. Kieran says:

An extension on the previous suggestion could be to request for guest article writers from within Twitter These would be mothers who are willing to share their experiences of being pregnant and having to adjust their fashion attire to match the bulge.

  9. Wow Kieran, some great ideas there! :) And I love the way you already have in mind how you’d outsource some of the marketing to your mum and sister in-law! ;)

  10. Kiran. S says:

Hey Michelle… This is a great idea and sounds like a lot of fun…and when there’s fun involved…I’m there, sharpish ;)

    1. Bookmark the main domain and each article to 20 top social bookmarking sites using the tool I love….OnlyWire.

    2. Submit the RSS feeds to around 20 quality RSS sites.

    3. As a general theme of Pregnancy fashion, a seperate article will be written on Squidoo, Hub Pages, Blogger, WordPress.com, Weebly and more WEB 2.0 sites. These articles will link back to the main domain with the relevant keywords all optimized in the headers, descriptions and anchor texts.

    4. I will social book mark each of the WEB 2.0 properties, and submit their RSS feeds also.

    5. Submit an article to Scribd, and link it back to the main site with the main keyword. Social bookmark and RSS submit this article.

    6. Now…the number of articles to post to Ezine Articles, Go Articles, Article Dashboard and Article Base is unlimited. But I will firstly start with 10 extra articles. One for the main domain, and one each for the individual blog posts… and link each article back to the individual blog posts, with corresponding keywords for that blog post. This will be extra unique articles, like the ones that will be submitted to other WEB 2.0 sites. I will social bookmark each article, RSS submit each article.

    7. Hire a VA to sign upto 3 top pregnancy forums and Yahoo answers, and make around 3 helpful posts at each site daily. I will track how this is performing for me, before making a decision to have the VA continuing with this task. I will also get the VA to make useful blog posts each day.

    8. Now the fun really begins. I will start to market the site via Google and Yahoo PPC. I will firstly analyse how much income the site can make with it’s main affiliate programs per 100 visitors for example…. then I will make the decision to set up the PPC campaign for Content network or Search network, or even both.

That is my general overview…a plan that has done quiet alright for me ;-) … Obviously don’t just stick to this….You should always be improving your marketing strategy on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

    Cheers

    Kiran

  11. Kiran. S says:

Oh yes I forgot to mention….Every piece of marketing is to be tracked for maximum success.

  12. Very thorough Kiran! Thanks for submitting your ideas. (I’m off to check out OnlyWire. :) )

  13. Kieran says:

Great traffic tactics there from Kiran. Easily transferable across any website.. Have thought of a few more to add to the mix..

Create a Twitter a/c specific to the pregnancy niche, where my thinking above was from my own personal a/c. Using SocialOomph.com (professional – paid level) to find targeted followers based on niche specific keywords, and link into this new Twitter a/c.

Using Hootsuite.com setup keyword feeds in the dashboard, and look for opportunities to assist anyone asking questions. Basically, be helpful and get noticed. These feeds will also show up tweets that are posted to promote their blogs by using a shortened URL in their tweet. Using the pregnancy feeds, will help you find more pregnancy blogs to post comments/back-links to.

On an SEO front, I would perform some in-depth keyword analysis using Market Samurai, and compile a list of keywords that will set the foundation for a highly optimized site. A very important part of this analysis is to ensure you can compete confidently against top 10 existing websites for each KW, and that their commercial intent is high.

Create a list of primary, secondary and LSI words and craft an SEO strategy to target those words. The strategy would include on-page SEO tactics and off-page SEO.

  14. Kiran says:

    Hey Kieran, cool name mate!

You put some top strategies down, I’ve made note to apply them myself also…so thanks.

I’ve seen locally to where I live that health clubs and fitness gyms offer exercise and Yoga classes for pregnant women… So I think targeting these areas for offline marketing will work well… Putting together a smart little leaflet listing enticing benefits of what they will gain from visiting the website.

Laser targeting your market is obviously better than targeting the masses in general…which many people do unfortunately for niche markets.

To help visitors not just interact with the site owner, but other members…a WordPress plugin called “WordPress Thread Comments” allow members to interact with eachother. It’s a right handy little plugin.

The “WP-Forum” is also a plugin that is useful to start with creating a forum in the website to help build your own community and allow members to interact, share ideas and much more.

There’s many more ways to develop…but to start off, along with other strategies mentioned…this will get the site moving in the right direction, and then you go ahead and develop further as you see fit.

    Cheers

    Kiran

  15. Kimberly says:

    Lots of good ideas already.
Although this site is already ranking well on Google, I would start by building more backlinks to increase its rankings. One of my favorite ways to build backlinks has been article writing and then using UAW for article submissions. In addition to Animoto, I like Incansoft’s GFX Video Writer to create text videos using articles that you have already written, and then post them to places like YouTube and other video directories.
There are many mom forums (ex. http://www.babycenter.com), where you can include a link in your signature line that leads back to the Pregnancy Fashion site and builds backlinks at the same time. As well, there are some very good mom websites that I have visited that allow you to purchase ad space for a small yearly fee where this site could be advertised.
I have a site that did not sell on Flippa recently (www.howtoconceiveagirlbaby.com) and another site that was created by an amazing blog entrepreneur :) (www.pregnancybodypillow.net) that I could include graphics linking between all of them for visitors to the site. Offline, there are some great ways to promote this site. I have used places like http://www.thinkpostcards.com and http://www.vistaprint.com to create postcards to advertise. You can ask local maternity and child-related businesses as well as obstetricians and pediatricians if you can put your postcards out at their locations (I already do this with another child business I have). This brings in lots of extra visitors and customers.
In order that others can share my site with others, I would definitely add the Simple Bookmarking WordPress plugin so that visitors to my site can bookmark the page. I would also add a twitter graphic and/or twitter wordpress plugin so that others can follow me online. I like using the all-in-one SEO pack plugin and Simple Google Sitemap, and would add these to the site in order to increase the chances of Google finding and increasing the ranking of this site.
Another great way to advertise this site is by allowing visitors to the site to connect with others. This can increase stickiness to the site. I would look at installing the Buddypress plugin to do this.
Another way of advertising is that you can find free Pregnancy Classified ads at sites such as: http://www.inetgiant.com/Tags/pregnancy. Another great way to advertise is through places like http://www.kijiji.com or ebay classifieds. I would create a graphic ad with information and a link to my site.
I would also add many more articles to this site in order to provide the visitors with all the information they need related to their pregnancy to keep them coming back for more information.
I just thought of another way to promote more buzz in the online community, is to develop an information product for the site and set up an affiliate program for the product in order to get other people promoting your site and the product. To get buzz in the offline community, you can use vehicle decals to advertise the site, but also ensure to include a “Media” area on the site, so that the media can contact you if they are looking for a story. One way to get the media to notice me would be to contact a local television breakfast show that interviews people in the community about particular topics. Then I would be sure to add video of that interview on the Media section of my site so that it increases my credibility. This is how I could become recognized as an expert in the area, increasing knowledge of the site.

    Hi Michelle,

First of all I am fairly new to IM, so I will tell you how I would promote it by what I’ve managed to learn so far!

If I won the website, I would promote it by doing a lot of linking via article marketing. I would use the likes of info barrel, squidoo and hub pages to promote it.

I would also make use of twitter to promote it.

Will check for affiliate programmes I could add to it.

But the most important bit is to keep on adding good quality content.

    Thank you.

  17. Thank you to all our participants! The competition is now closed as per the update notice added to the beginning of this post. The winner will be announced at 9am Wednesday 23rd June EDT. :)
